About the Museum

Did you know South Padre Island was once home to Indians, sunken Spanish ships, and secret WWII operations? The Historical Museum of South Padre Island is where these stories come to life. Step inside and experience the island’s past like never before.

Our New Facility

The future home of the museum is already taking shape at 610 Padre Boulevard, inside the former South Padre Island Visitor’s Center. The 5000 sq. ft. facility will be completed in Spring 2026.

The museum will feature three dynamic galleries that will provide deep insights, videos, and narrated stories about South Padre Island's rich history.
